Holiday Season

Our holidays seem to have passed in a blur, we stayed at home for both Thanksgiving and Christmas this year.  This Thanksgiving I prepared the entire meal by myself except for cooking the turkey on Thanksgiving day.  Scott was being a very good son and taking care of his mother after a routine procedure turned into something more serious.  Thank goodness she is now fine and was able to come to Thanksgiving dinner at the house along with Leah, Graham and Leslie Ann, who is going to be joining our family when she and Graham get married.

I was able to take off the entire week of work, mainly because Emily was home from Auburn and I wanted to spend some quality time with her.  We did get our time because she helped me cook.  I realized how much work preparing Thanksgiving dinner can be for one person.  Thank your Grandma!  We had cornbread dressing, sweet potato casserole, cranberry sauce (home made), rolls from scratch and Banana Foster upside down cake.  Everything turned out really good and I was very proud of myself for getting it all done.  I also realized that I really liked preparing Thanksgiving dinner. There is something about cooking that makes me feel at home.  Scott and I decided that we like the Thanksgiving holiday more that any other because it involves good food and time spent with family.  With the focus being on the time and the family.  Don't get me wrong I like Christmas but Thanksgiving seems more relaxed and easy.  Here are some picutres from our Thanksgiving feast!
The table is set!

Before the feast.

Just the first glass of good wine.

My wonderful children brought me flowers for the table.

Christmas was also spent here in Texas.  Emily came home from Auburn on December 9 and we have really enjoyed having her home.  She worked at World Market for the holiday and earned some spending money for her next semester at school.  We spent Christmas Eve at Scott's sister in-law and brother's house and had a really great time with our great neices and nephews.  It's nice to have babies at Christmas - especially those we can give back when they cry.  Which they don't do too much.  Leah really outdid herself and the food was wonderful.  I just realized how much I talk about food.  Can you tell that is what we really enjoy!!

I have posted some pictures of the family at Christmas!  I am writing this on New Year's Eve eve and Missy and her family are coming to visit arriving tomorrow so I hope to have more from their visit!

Merry Christmas Honey!

Me and my "babies"

That's all for now - it only took me about 4 days to get this done (I started this on New Year's Eve and it's now January 3,2012!)- but I also think it was worth it!  What beautiful children!  I love having babies around.

@#$! blog

O.K. for Christmas I received a present that is going to take me into the world of technology, if I don't throw it across the #@$! room before I figure it all out.  Scott, my husband of 23 years, gave me a new tablet.  I actually asked for it because I wanted to start a blog, like my younger sister Missy and my even younger neice in-law Stacy.  I figured that if they could figure it out so could I.  Well I was very wrong about that.  Missy and Stacy you are both geniuses!  After about 5 minutes I was ready to pull a Francis and throw this thing across the room. Those of you who know my dad understand that reference.  But I walked away.  Then my ever patient husband sat down with me and we tried to figure it out.  If you know us you know we have different styles, and well let's just say thank goodness my daughter, Emily, came in and rescued Scott from my Weimer temper.  But here it is my first blog, after an entire afternoon and many apologies to Scott.
But now I have it figured out and I am going to do my best to post updates without so much cussing.  But again if you know me you know that's not really going to happen.  Also Emily is going to be home two more weeks, so, I will at least do updates for the next two weeks.  There are no guarantees after that! Let me know what you think.
